End of Mexico - Europe 2021 (part 1)

It was entering rain season in Mexico, and very hot.  Elections were going on so they closed things that had previously never been closed.  Seaweed in Quintana Roo was mounting to levels I’ve never seen before.  It was time to leave Mexico, though I didn’t want to.  How can one leave a paradise?

Europe offered better weather and I yearned to see some friends again.  The differences in cultures between Mexico, America, and Europe proved too tempting not to contrast.  But I needed to get past the covid barriers.  I needed vaccination.  I opted for the one shot Johnson and Johnson - I didn’t have time to wait three weeks and then another two weeks.  As it was I was short on time.  Time, my permanent enemy.

London’s quarantine didn’t worry me, I welcome quarantine.  Anything that gives me an excuse to stay in and read or catch up on Netflix and spend quality time with friends.

However, the rules, the tests, the flights, they decided for me that London wasn’t yet the move.  Everything lined up better to fly to Mexico City and explore the 99% of Mexico I’ve been missing.

Mexico City was legendary.  Guadalajara was alright, and sayulita was a special little place, perfect ending to my trip as the person I met when I entered Mexico was living there and though I didn’t get to see them, I got to go to the places they recommended and close out my trip with them very much in mind.

I chased a flame to Paris, and had a blast.  Took a trip to Amsterdam and enjoyed the quietest three days I can remember.  I spent it entirely alone, but yet connected deeply through online messages with friends, it was nice to catch up a bit.

One of my best friends from the military awaits me in Poland, so I’m slowly making my way there, I spent an interesting night in Prague and I just arrived in Bratislava.  What a special little place it’s proving to be.  I’m excited.
